Melbourne Prize for Music 2007
The Melbourne Prize Trust and Committee for Melbourne, along with the generous support of partner organisations and patrons, offer the Melbourne Prize for Music 2007; Australia’s most valuable music prize.
Valued at over $100,000, the Prize recognises and rewards excellence and talent in music, inspires creative development and enriches public life. There are three awards on offer to Victorian musicians, across all music genres, including the$60,000 Melbourne Prize for Music 2007, the $30,000 Outstanding Musicians Award and the $12,000 Development Award.
Yamaha Music Australia is a partner of the Development Award, which comprises $7,000 cash to the winner, along with the ‘Yamaha Musical Instrument Grant’, which provides the winner with a Yamaha musical instrument or equipment of their choice to the value of $5,000rrp. The Development Award will provide emerging Victorian musician’s the opportunity to further develop their career.

The annual Melbourne Prize is the most valuable prize of its kind in Australia and runs in a three-year cycle, which includes the Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture 2005, the Melbourne Prize for Literature 2006 and the Melbourne Prize for Music 2007. The cycle commences again with the Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture 2008.
